課程概述

這是一門專業筆譯訓練課程，以幫助同學們培養解決翻譯問題的能力為訓練核心，並且聚焦在譯文的精確性、完整性與可讀性，深入探討風格、語意、文化脈絡、（不）可翻譯性等翻譯問題。
This professional translation course is designed to help students develop the core capability of problem-solving, and, by discussing translation problems, such as style, semantics, cultural context, and (in)translatability, to review students' works of translation from the perspectives of accuracy, completeness, and readability.
 

課程目標
 本課程以下列面向為主要目標：
I. 加強同學的語句分析能力與翻譯技巧。
II. 透過接觸與實際翻譯各類文本，培養翻譯的專業能力。
III. 透過與老師和同學討論譯文來強化對於原文的了解，並修正譯文。
IV. 建立專業翻譯的工作態度與自我要求，為未來的翻譯工作做準備。
V. 學會透過各種網路與圖書資源來查找資料，解決翻譯問題。
VI. 拓展譯者視野，了解各種翻譯工作內容與譯文類型。
The main objectives to be achieved in this course are as follows:
I. the enhancement of students' ability to analyze and translate sentences.
II. by translating various types and topics of texts, try to develop students' translation competency.
III. learn how to better understand the texts thoroughly by discussing with the instructor and fellow students.
IV. the establishment of translators' ethics.
V. take a closer look at the options of the problem-solving approach of translation.
VI. practice how to solve problems by using Internet resources.
 
課程要求
 I. 完成老師每週指定的翻譯作業（遲交兩次以上者將影響學期成績）。
II. 參與課堂討論。
III. 進行口頭報告（針對原文與譯文進行報告）。
IV. 尋找學期報告主題（於開學一個月內），每週報告進度，報告內容至少必須涵蓋翻譯理論、翻譯史、翻譯作品等三部分。報告篇幅至少五頁英文（單行距），並附上完整參考書目（MLA或APA格式）。
V. 完成一篇至少2500字的譯文。
I. finish the weekly assignments (two delays with affect your grades).
II. class discussions and participations.
III. weekly oral presentation.
IV. Within one month after the semester begins, find the topics of your semester paper, which should at least cover three aspects: translation theories, translation history, and translated texts. This paper written in English should include at least 5 pages (single-spaced) and complete bibliography (either in MLA or APA format).
V. Finish a short piece of Chinese-to-English translation with at least 2500 English words.
